It is with much regret that
I have to inform Your Lordships that this
Colony has been visited with
a severe typhoon
on the night of the 31st ultimo, and morning
of the 1st Instant, by which very considerable damage has been sustained by the shipping, Chinese craft, and buildings both public and private; and I grieve to add, it has been attended
with great loss of life.
